Welcome to Aycliffe Squash Club

Aycliffe Squash Club is a friendly, well established small club which is affiliated to England Squash. It has a long-standing presence in the Durham and Cleveland Squash League, currently running a men’s team and a ladies’ team (visit www.dcsra.co.uk for details of team fixtures, results, players and more).

The Club plays at the Oak Leaf Sports Complex in Newton Aycliffe, which boasts four top class squash courts, excellent changing facilities and a superb bar and restaurant, offering competitively priced drinks and food in a pleasant ambiance. The Complex is easily accessible, with ample parking for cars and cycles. It also has indoor football facilities, a golf course, badminton, indoor bowls, exercise classes and a whole host of other activities – you can visit its website at http://www.great-aycliffe.gov.uk/oakleafsportscomplex/home-sports/

Come and join us for some drop in sessions we are currently running on a Saturday between 4pm – 5.30pm – led by experienced players, we welcome anyone over 16 at any level.

The squash courts at the Oak Leaf can be booked by members or non-members of the Oak Leaf by phoning 01325 300600, or you can just turn up and play, subject to courts being available (better to phone first at peak times). Members get preferential rates and booking rights. A 45 minute session currently costs £6.00 (£3.00 each for two players) for Oak Leaf members, £7.50 for non-members (for the year to 31 March 2019). Oak Leaf membership currently costs approx £17 a year for adults, £11 for juniors and over 60s.

The internal leagues run by the Oak Leaf allow for semi-competitive, sociable matches for a wide range of standards of player, and are suitable for just about any player who already knows the rules and how to play safely, including men, ladies and juniors. Anyone who wants to enter can place their name, approximate standard and contact details on the noticeboard and they will be entered in the leagues at the next available opportunity (leagues operate roughly on a monthly cycle). The leagues are a great way to meet new people and play squash with them. Matches are arranged with your opponents at a mutually convenient time and date. It costs nothing to enter the leagues – you just pay the normal court fees when you play.

The next level of progress after the internal leagues is the Durham and Cleveland League. In order to play in this, it is necessary to join an affiliated club. Membership of Aycliffe Squash Club is currently free, with fees being charged per match towards club costs, such as court charges, affiliation to ESRA, and affiliation to the Durham and Cleveland League. Members are also eligible to enter the Club Championship, other Club competitions, Durham and Cleveland and England Squash tournaments.

The Club can offer coaching opportunities for adults and the Oak Leaf runs regular coaching sessions for juniors with Bill West, a highly experienced, highly qualified professional coach. Prices are highly reasonable.

Anyone living or working in or around Newton Aycliffe who wants to play squash, whether they are an experienced club squash player, a total beginner or somewhere in between, should check out the Oak Leaf Sports Complex and consider joining Aycliffe Squash Club. New players are always very welcome – open sessions on selected Saturday afternoons are a great place to start.

Contact the Oak Leaf on 01325 300600 and/or Aycliffe Squash Club via any of our contacts – see our contacts page. We would love to hear from you.
